1. Introduction

YIELD DIAMOND LIMITED operates a private grading bench in Mid-Levels, Hong Kong, where stones are read against their certificates, matched as pairs and prepared for consignment or resale. This website is run by the developer DiamondYield on behalf of YIELD DIAMOND LIMITED. That developer name appears here for clarity and does not describe a separate data controller.

The bench cares about the privacy of the families, trustees, jewellers and private owners who come to it. Much of what we hold is sensitive by nature, because a consignment file can reveal what a person owns, what it is worth and when they intend to part with it. We treat that information with the same care we apply to a stone on the tray.

This policy describes our practices in plain language. It should be read together with our Terms of Service. If anything here is unclear, please write to service@pacbrilliance.lat and we will explain it.

We have written this policy for a reader who may be clearing a family estate at a difficult moment, or a jeweller who needs a straight answer before handing over a stone. Both deserve the same clarity. Where a provision sounds technical, the plain meaning is stated first and the legal reason follows.

2. Scope of This Policy

This policy applies to personal information collected through the website at pacbrilliance.lat, through email, telephone and messaging channels, and through in-person appointments at our office. It covers prospective clients, existing clients, consignors, buyers, insurers and any representative who contacts the bench on behalf of another person.

It does not apply to websites operated by other organisations, even where a link from our site leads to them. It also does not govern information processed by a laboratory, an insurer or a logistics provider acting under its own privacy policy.

Where a client instructs us to share information with a third party, that sharing is governed by these terms as well as by the instruction itself. The bench will confirm in writing what is to be shared, with whom and for how long, and will not extend the sharing beyond that instruction.

3. Who Controls the Data

The controller of the personal information described here is YIELD DIAMOND LIMITED, whose office is at 6/F Lai Cheung House, 92 Robinson Rd, Mid-Levels, Hong Kong - 999077, Hong Kong (HK). The controller decides why information is collected and how it is used.

The contact point for all privacy matters is the same bench address. Written requests should be addressed to the Privacy Contact at that office, and electronic requests may be sent to service@pacbrilliance.lat. The telephone number +14406995695 reaches the same office during business hours.

The bench does not appoint an external data protection officer, because the scale and nature of its processing do not require one. Instead the person who runs the bench is directly accountable for privacy, which keeps the responsibility close to the work and avoids a layer of distance between a client and an answer.

4. Information We Collect

We collect only what the bench needs to answer an enquiry, arrange an appointment, keep a consignment file or complete a paperwork run. The categories below describe the usual scope.

Identity and contact details

Your name, postal address, email address and telephone number. For representatives of an estate or a company, we may also record your role and the organisation you act for, together with written authority where the law or the transaction requires it.

Correspondence

The content of emails, messages and notes taken during telephone calls. We keep these because they often record what was agreed about a lot, a view or a price, and memory alone is not a sufficient record for a consignment.

Transaction and appointment data

Appointment dates, the services requested, lot numbers, consignment schedules, settlement details and the bank or payment references needed to complete a payment. We do not store full payment card numbers on our systems.

Stone records

Descriptions, measurements, weights, photographs and bench notes concerning the items you bring. These are commercial records, but they can identify you indirectly, particularly in small collections, so they are treated as personal information in this policy.

Website technical data

The pages you visit, the browser and device type reported by your browser, approximate location derived from a network address and error logs. This data is used to keep the site working and to understand which pages are useful.

5. Information Collected at the Bench

When you attend an appointment, the bench records the items you bring, the lot tags assigned and the readings taken under the lamp. Where you ask for an appraisal, we also record the method used and the assumptions behind the figure.

Photographs taken at the bench are stored with the lot file. They are used to document condition, to support an insurance schedule and to accompany a consignment record. We do not publish photographs of client items without specific written permission, and we never use them in advertising by default.

If you bring a companion or independent adviser, we may record that person has attended and, where relevant, that they were given access to the tray. We do not collect information about that companion beyond what is needed for the record.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

This website keeps its technical footprint small. It does not set advertising cookies and does not operate a third party analytics profile. Any cookie used is a functional cookie needed to keep a page working correctly during your visit.

The contact form prepares an email in your own mail application and does not transmit your message to a server operated by this website. The details you type remain in your browser until your mail application takes them. We therefore do not receive form content unless and until you send the email yourself.

If we later introduce a measurement tool, we will update this section and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before non-essential storage is set.

7. Why We Use Your Information

The bench uses personal information to answer enquiries, confirm appointments and prepare the tray before you arrive. It uses it to perform certification reviews, private viewings and resale appraisals, and to run estate consignment and insurance paperwork under the terms agreed with you.

We also use information to keep accurate accounting and tax records, to meet obligations under Hong Kong law, to resolve disputes and to protect the bench, its clients and its records from fraud or misuse. Where you have asked to be kept informed about the autumn viewing window or similar seasonal openings, we use your contact details to send that update only.

We do not sell personal information. We do not rent contact lists. We do not use consignment data to approach buyers about your collection without your instruction.

9. Sharing and Disclosure

Consignment and resale work sometimes requires us to share a limited description of an item with a prospective buyer. That description is prepared with the consignor and does not include personal contact details unless the consignor has agreed to them being shared.

We may disclose information to professional advisers, auditors, insurers and banks where this is necessary to complete a transaction or to comply with the law. We may also disclose information where a court, regulator or law enforcement agency has lawful authority to require it, and we will tell you where we are permitted to do so.

In the event that the business is reorganised, merged or transferred, client records may form part of the transferred assets. Any successor would be bound to handle the records in a manner consistent with this policy, and we would notify you before a transfer took effect where the law allows.

10. Service Providers and Processors

We use a small number of providers to run the bench, including email hosting, document storage, accounting software and the web hosting that serves this site. Each provider processes information only on our instructions and only for the purpose we have agreed.

Before engaging a provider, we consider the sensitivity of the information it will touch and require appropriate contractual protections. Providers that handle consignment files are bound by written terms that include confidentiality, security and deletion obligations. Where a provider cannot meet the standard the bench requires, we do not engage it, even where the commercial terms are attractive.

We do not authorise any provider to use client information for its own marketing, and we review the list of providers periodically so that dormant services are closed and access is removed.

11. International Transfers

The bench is based in Hong Kong, and most records stay there. Some service providers operate infrastructure in other jurisdictions, so information may be stored or processed outside Hong Kong during routine backup or email delivery.

Where information is transferred outside Hong Kong, we take steps to ensure it remains protected. These steps may include contractual clauses, provider certification and internal review of the destination legal framework. If you would like more detail on the safeguards that apply to a particular transfer, write to service@pacbrilliance.lat.

12. How Long We Keep Records

Appointment and enquiry records are usually kept for three years after the last contact, so that a returning client does not have to begin again. Consignment files, appraisal reports and settlement records are kept longer, because they support accounting, tax and dispute resolution obligations.

Photographs and bench notes tied to a specific item are retained for as long as the item may reasonably be the subject of a claim or a resale question, and in any event for the period required by law. When a retention period ends, records are deleted or anonymised in a controlled manner.

If you ask us to delete information earlier, we will do so where no legal or contractual obligation requires retention. We will confirm what has been deleted and what must remain, and why.

13. Security of Bench Records

Access to client records is limited to the people who need it to run the bench. Paper files are kept in the office at 6/F Lai Cheung House, and digital files are held in accounts protected by strong authentication. Devices used at the bench are encrypted and require a passcode to unlock.

Consignment schedules and settlement details are stored separately from general marketing lists. Where a file is sent to a provider or a counterparty, it is shared through a controlled channel rather than as an open attachment.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach occurs and it is likely to result in a risk to your rights or freedoms, we will notify you and the relevant authority in line with applicable law, and we will explain what happened, what we have done and what you can do to reduce any risk.

14. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy, and ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate. You may also request deletion where there is no continuing obligation to keep the record.

You may object to processing based on legitimate interests, ask us to restrict processing while a concern is reviewed, and ask for a portable copy of information you provided to us in a structured and commonly used format. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.

To exercise a right, write to the Privacy Contact at YIELD DIAMOND LIMITED, 6/F Lai Cheung House, 92 Robinson Rd, Mid-Levels, Hong Kong - 999077, Hong Kong (HK), or email service@pacbrilliance.lat. We may ask for reasonable proof of identity before we act, and we will respond within the period required by law. There is no charge for a first request, although a reasonable fee may apply to repetitive or excessive requests.

15. Marketing Communications

The bench sends very little marketing. If you ask to hear about the autumn viewing window or about a matching stone that fits a search already under way, we will use the contact details you have given for that purpose only.

Every message includes a simple way to stop receiving further updates. You can also reply to any message and ask to be removed, or write to service@pacbrilliance.lat. We will action an opt-out promptly and will not ask why.

Opting out of updates does not affect messages we must send about an active appointment, a consignment or a paperwork obligation.

16. Privacy for Children

The bench serves adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of eighteen. A young person may attend an appointment with a parent or guardian, and in that case we record only what is needed for the visit.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us without appropriate consent, please contact service@pacbrilliance.lat and we will delete the information promptly, subject to any legal duty to retain it.

17. Third Party Websites

This website may link to pages operated by other organisations, including laboratories, insurers and professional bodies. Those pages are governed by their own privacy notices, and we do not control what they collect or how they use it.

We encourage you to read the privacy notice of any external site before providing personal information. A link from our site is not an endorsement of the practices described on the destination page.

18. Changes to This Policy

We review this policy from time to time to reflect changes in how the bench works or in the law. When we make a material change, we will update the date shown in the header and, where appropriate, notify clients who have an active file.

The current version is always available on this page. If a change affects how we use information you have already given us, we will explain the change and, where consent is required, ask for it before the new use begins.

19. How to Contact the Bench

Questions, requests and complaints about privacy should go to the bench in writing. We take concerns seriously and will investigate promptly.
